What is Integrative Medicine?

  • A holistic approach to health takes into account all of the factors that may influence a persons health and well being.  This includes the mind, body and  spirit.

  • Appropriate use of both conventional and alternative methods facilitates the body's innate healing response.

  • Effective interventions that are natural and less invasive should be used whenever possible.

  • Integrative medicine does not reject conventional medicine nor blindly accept alternative based therapies uncritically.  Integrative medicine is the "and" not the "or" when it comes to approaches to healthcare.

  • The relationship between Patient and practitioner are essential to the healing process.

  • Good medicine is based in good science.  Integrative Medicine is inquiry-driven and open to new perspectives and is changing the current paradigm of health in the U.S.

  • Promoting healthy living and the prevention of illness are the most important factors in our practice

  • Integrative medicine practitioners should represent its core principles and commit themselves to self-exploration and self-development.
